Porto Alegre, November 16, 2020 – The planting of the new Brazilian soybean crop was slightly slower last week. Although the little moist climate allowed agricultural machines to advance, it also worried some growers again, preventing a better advance. Despite this, the accumulated delays since the beginning of sowing were recovered, and the work returned to the normal average for this time of year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n According\nto a survey conducted by SAFRAS & Mercado, until November 13,\nBrazilian growers sowed 67.3% of the total area expected for the\ncountry. The percentage is equivalent to approximately 25.786 mln\nhectares, out of a total of 38.325 mln hectares estimated for the\nplanting in the country. In the previous week, the index was 54.2%.\nIn the same period of the previous year, the percentage reached\n65.9%, while the five-year average for the period is 64.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nParan\u00e1, 87% of the area for soybeans were sown. The percentage is\nequivalent to nearly 4.87 mln hectares planted, out of a total of 5.6\nmln hectares estimated for the state. In the previous week, the index\nwas 83%. In the same period last year, the percentage reached 91%,\nwhile the five-year average is 86.6% for the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nMato Grosso, out of a total expected area of \u200b\u200b10.29\nmln hectares, 93% have already been sown, equivalent to approximately\n9.57 mln hectares. In the previous week, the index was 82%. In the\nsame period of the previous year, the percentage was 97%. The\nfive-year average for the period is 89.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nMato Grosso do Sul, out of a total area estimated at 3.25 mln\nhectares, 90% have already been sown, equivalent to nearly 2.93 mln\nhectares. In the previous week, the index was 65%. In the same period\nlast year, the percentage was 85%, while the five-year average for\nthe period is 87.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nGoi\u00e1s, out of a total expected area of \u200b\u200b3.795\nmln hectares, 61% were sown, or approximately 2.32 mln hectares. In\nthe previous week, the percentage was 52%, while in the same period\nlast year the percentage was 63%. The five-year average for the\nperiod is 68.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nS\u00e3o Paulo, out of a total area estimated at 1.08 mln hectares, 30%\nwere sown, or roughly 324 thousand hectares. In the previous week,\nthe index was 25%, while in the same period of the previous year the\npercentage was 84%. The five-year average for the period is 70%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nMinas Gerais, out of a total area estimated at 1.755 mln hectares,\n62% were sown, around 1.09 mln hectares. In the previous week, the\npercentage was 44%. In the same period last year, the percentage was\n57%, while the five-year average for the period is 54.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nBahia, out of a total area estimated at 1.67 mln hectares, 40% were\nsown, or approximately 668 thousand hectares. In the previous week,\nthe index was 20%, while in the same period last year the percentage\nwas 7%. The five-year average for the period is 21.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n In\nSanta Catarina, the planting is 50% complete\nof\nan expected total area of \u200b\u200b750\nthousand hectares, which is equivalent to roughly 375 thousand\nhectares. In the previous week, the index was 35%. In the same period\nof the previous year, the percentage was 65%, while the average for\nthe period is 58.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n Climate\nforecasts point to the return of moisture in practically all\nproducing regions in the period between November 13 and 19. In the\nperiod between November 20 and 26, the South region and some states\nin the Southeast and Midwest regions must receive little rainfall,\nwhile other states in the central strip and in the North and\nNortheast regions of the country must receive a good volume of\nprecipitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
