\nPorto Alegre, November 5, 2020 \u2013 The\nplanting of the new Brazilian soybean crop had a strong advance between October\n23 and 30. The maintenance of reasonable moisture forecasts for the states in\nthe central strip of the country encouraged growers to keep working night and day,\nwhich resulted in a great recovery from accumulated delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a survey conducted by SAFRAS\n& Mercado, until October 30, Brazilian growers sowed 35% of the total area\nexpected for the country. The percentage is equivalent to nearly 13.418 million\nhectares sown, out of a total of 38.325 million hectares estimated for planting\nin the country. In the previous week, the percentage was 16.3%. In the same\nperiod of the previous year, the percentage reached 43.5%, while the five-year\naverage for the period is 38.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Paran\u00e1, 64% of the area for soybeans were\nsown. The percentage is equivalent to approximately 3.58 million hectares, out\nof a total of 5.6 million hectares estimated for the state. In the previous\nweek, the percentage was 35%. In the same period last year, the percentage\nreached 68%, while the five-year average is 65.6% for the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Mato Grosso, out of a total expected\narea of 10.29 million hectares, 52% have already been sown, equivalent to\napproximately 5.35 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was\n26%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 82%. The five-year\naverage for the period is 64.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Mato Grosso do Sul, out of a total area\nestimated at 3.25 million hectares, 50% have already been sown, equivalent to roughly\n1.63 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 18%. In the\nsame period last year, the percentage was 34%, while the five-year average for\nthe period is 54.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Goi\u00e1s, out of a total expected area of 3.795\nmillion hectares, 35% were sown, or approximately 1.39 million hectares. In the\nprevious week, the percentage was 12%, while in the same period last year the\npercentage was 30%. The five-year average for the period is 30.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In S\u00e3o Paulo, out of a total area\nestimated at 1.08 million hectares, 19% were sown, or roughly 205 thousand\nhectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 5%, while in the same period\nof the previous year the percentage was 22%. The five-year average for the\nperiod is 24.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Minas Gerais, out of a total area\nestimated at 1.755 million hectares, 30% were sown, or approximately 527\nthousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 8%. In the same\nperiod last year, the percentage was 27%, while the five-year average for the\nperiod is 24.0%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Bahia, out of a total area estimated at\n1.67 million hectares, 8% were sown, or roughly 134 thousand hectares. In the\nprevious week, the percentage was 0%, while in the same period last year the\npercentage was 1%. The five-year average for the period is 4.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Santa Catarina, the planting is 14% complete\nof an expected total area of 750 thousand hectares, which is equivalent to\napproximately 105 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was\n1%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 28%, while the\naverage for the period is 23.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Weather\nforecasts point to a week of great rainfall accumulated in the states of Minas\nGerais, Goi\u00e1s, Mato Grosso, and the North and Northeast regions in the period\nbetween October 30 and November 5, which will probably prevent the maintenance\nof the good pace of sowing in the previous week. The other states in the\nMidwest, Southeast, and South, on the other hand, will receive little or no moisture,\nfavoring the planting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
