With little moisture registered\nin recent weeks, growers continue to wait for more regular rains to resume the work.\nThis fact keeps the planting well behind the normal average for this time of\nyear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; According to a survey carried out by\nSAFRAS &amp; Mercado, until October 16, Brazilian growers sowed only 6.1% of\nthe total area expected for the country. The percentage is equivalent to\napproximately 2.306 mln hectares sown, out of a total of 37.940 mln hectares\nestimated for planting in the country. In the previous week, the index was\n2.3%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage reached 19.5%,\nwhile the five-year average for the period is 17.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In Paran\u00e1, 20% of the area destined for soybeans\nhave been sown. The percentage is equivalent to nearly 1.12 mln hectares\nplanted, out of a total of 5.6 mln hectares estimated for the state. In the\nprevious week, the percentage was 10%. In the same period last year, the\npercentage reached 36%, while the five-year average is 39.4% for the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In Mato Grosso, out of a total expected\narea of 10.21 mln hectares, 8% have already been sown, equivalent to nearly 817\nthousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 3%. In the same\nperiod of the previous year, the percentage was 42%. The five-year average for\nthe period is 28.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In Mato Grosso do Sul, out of a total area\nestimated at 3.08 mln hectares, 4% have already been sown, equivalent to\napproximately 108 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was\n0.3%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 16%, while the five-year\naverage for the period is 23.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In Goi\u00e1s, out of a total expected area of 3.745\nmln hectares, 5% were sown, or nearly 187 thousand hectares. In the previous\nweek, the percentage was 0.2%, while in the same period last year the\npercentage was 12%. The five-year average for the period is 9.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In S\u00e3o Paulo, out of a total area estimated\nat 1.080 mln hectares, 2% were sown, or approximately 22 thousand hectares. In\nthe previous week, the percentage was 0%, while in the same period of the\nprevious year the percentage was 5%. The five-year average for the period is\n6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nMinas Gerais, out of a total area estimated at 1.745 mln hectares, 3% were sown,\nor nearly 52 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 0.2%.\nIn the same period last year, the percentage was 5%, while the five-year\naverage for the period is 6.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Weather forecasts point to the maintenance\nof some moisture over the states of the central strip of the country between\nOctober 16 and 22.
