The appreciation in coffee prices in April served as an additional boost to sales in the physical market. According to a SAFRAS survey, until May 8, growers had committed 94% of the 23/24 crop (Jul/Jun). This represents an increase of 5% over the previous month and surpasses the same period last year, when 91% of production had been sold. Furthermore, it is above the five-year average (2019 and 2023), which registers sales of 92% of the crop for this period.

Arabica coffee sales advanced the most, reaching 92% of production, reinforcing the idea of a very active grower and seeking to take advantage of the good price momentum. These numbers already exceed the same period last year, when sales accounted for 89% of the crop, and the five-year average (90%). Highlight on the good trading progress of sales in the south of Minas Gerais, mainly by cooperatives, and in the Cerrado region of the same state.

Conillon sales slowed down in the final stretch of the season, despite the price surge. Low availability and the increasing focus on the next crop justify the slower trading pace. Even so, conillon sales hit 97% of production, above the same period last year (94%) and the five-year average (95%).
